New from the critters
It Nemesis here with breaking news -yesterday the big yellow thing came and swallowed our children up only to return them later -we don't know how long they were gone for as we don't tell time.
All I know is I had the bed all to myself and that's all that matters. His lord and majesty Shenanigans was completely unfazed by the whole thing and lounged around on his spots all day.
"I could care less as they neither feed me nor pay proper attention to me" Shenanigans was heard to comment. My staff was in attendance all day!
Poor Java was tramatized by the whole affair "It happened again!! That terrible yellow thing swallowed up my children even though I barked at it very ferociously!!" She made a full recovery when they returned but will again be upset as they leave tomorrow.
Dutch decided that he needed to dig a hole and hide before it tried to take him so the couch seemed like a good place to blend into. Good thing it already had a rip in it!
And the kids finally came back safe and sound! So all is well -oh no wait it's back again!!!! AUGH!!!!!!! Mommy make it stop!
Here's our missing kids pictures -if you see them tell them to come home we all miss them!. Even Sheanigans though he will never admit it.
Bye all Nemesis, Java, Dutch and his old gumpypants!

Uh oh he heard me RUN!!!!!!!!!

Older Louet- S-10 Spinning wheel for sale
Rest assured this is NOT my wheel LOL I will never part with my beloved Louet.
This is a trade in wheel from an older customer of mine. It is an older Louet s-10 manufactured early 80's under license by Louet by another Ontario company now that is now gone. The bobbins are very nice -barely used. I replaced the footman connector so it's good to go.
Asking $275 can deliver to Fingerlakes Fiber Festival in September or Rhinebeck NY in October.

When everything else is going wrong -SPIN!
So things have been chaos around here lately - Daryl ended up at emergency Saturday night with metal in his eye-he's better now but 5 + hours sitting there is enough to make anybody stir crazy. Add other stuff and I need stress relief big time -what better than spinning. Its peaceful and solitary and so fun!! And with fall shows coming up yarn is always a great thing to have on hand.
Here's this weeks works ready for washing - I have another couple on the go as well including this lovely beige cashmere gifted to me from a friend. I have an idea for a long cardigan when it is done but it could take a while to spin all that laceweight.

Its that time of year again -my life has gone to the dogs :)
Its the annual Kingston Sheep Dog trials again. I LOVE watching the dogs, seeing all the fun and interesting dogs people bring with them, Unfortunately I have to work Friday and Sunday night so that cuts time shorter there but we'll deal :)
I would love to bring Java and the Dutchman there but neither is overly social with other dogs that do not belong to "their" family.
Pictures coming when I figure out where the camera is.

Latest project done
Handspun kid mohair and linen - spaced dyed. Needed a quick project to have on display with the yarn for sale so made this very simple cowl scarf. Loved it so much I've started another one as a gift~
Bunnies getting bigger
Look how they've grown :) Getting so big and fluffy. Will have a hard time picking who gets to stay and go from these litters. Top litter is still unsexed. Bottom litter of 4 is three girls and one boy :)

LOL A friend sent this to me and I had to share!
House Rules
1. If it’s not yours…don’t touch it.
2. Remove your shoes at the door. Not directly in front of the door…off to the side.
3. If the bathroom door is locked, knocking repeatedly will not make it open any faster.
4. Do not use “fair” to describe what something is not. It is the original “F” word.
5. Balled socks do not come clean…unball them or wear them dirty.
7. Keep your private parts well hidden at all times...and apply rule number one.
8. If the dog’s water dish is empty, fill it. Or let’s see how long you can go without water.
9. Three drops of milk does not justify returning it to the fridge.
10. If you ask for seconds, you eat every bite.
11. Pretend the rim of the toilet will electrocute you if it gets wet.
12. Wipe every single time.
13. Wearing clothes to the mirror and back does not get them dirty.
14. Food and shelter are required of me. Everything else is a privilege and can be revoked.
15. I don’t care what everyone else gets to do. Whine about it and I’ll throw you off that bridge myself.
16. Money in the dryer is always mine.
17. Touch the thermostat and see what happens…
18. Loaning you something once does not make it yours.
19. Clean underwear at just that…clean. Sorting them with two fingers is not necessary.
20. Slam your door and I will remove it.
21. “Bedtime” means the same thing every single night. Do not look at me like I’m crazy when I say it.
22. When you run your toothbrush under the water, I always know. Same thing with the soap in the shower.
23. Everything you do cost money, from turning on the hot water to opening the fridge. Conserve.
24. I don’t care if you did it. I didn’t ask. I just told you to clean it up.
25. And once again…if it’s not yours, DON’T TOUCH IT!

Its just so darn hot
Everyday here lately is the same routine. Check to make sure everybody has water, fans are working, sit down to cool off , nap for a few minutes and then head to work LOL. Kids are happy and content with sleeping in the basement, living on popsicles and swimming in nanny and poppa's pool.
I've been spinning laceweight mohair and linen and am trying to get it done for the two big shows coming up. Picton craft show in the 29th (8am -8pm) and then off to the Kingston Sheep Dog trials for three days.
Kids have helped making more cat felt toys for the shows -here's a basket ready to go!! They have also picked a HUGE bag of catnip to roll them into if the customer wants. We have two very stoned kitties here right now :)

Missing you
I told myself today it was going to be okay and it was. 13 years ago you left me and I know it was time for you to go. Tonight when I went for a walk there were dragonflies everywhere. Just like there was when we said goodbye. I love you always and miss you. I see your smile in my children's faces and hear your laughter on the wind.

Long awaited arrivals
Ever since I had Levi -my first Argent D'Bleu , I have been awaiting the time when I could breed him to make more of this wonderful colour. They are VERY uncommon here in Canada (I have only heard of one other one).
So today heralded the safe arrival of three blues and three champages (black) who will carry the blue gene. They will be going all over North America when they are weaned. I already have a waiting list for these guys :) That is if I can party with them -they're very special after all LOL

A wounded arrival at the house
. We had a pigeon slam into the building where I work and so we caught him and put him in a box to take to the local animal shelter. Well they wouldn't take him so back home he came with me.Next I called the local wildlife rescue but they said they are too full to take a pigeon. He's currently in a modified rabbit cage and is very happy to sit and peck at the seed we got for him. His one wing is smashed badly and I don't think he'll ever fly again so he'll either stay here or if I can find a better place for him to live we will.
He's actually very calm so I wonder if he is somebody's racing pigeon but he has no band on his leg.
Kids have named him "Crash" LOL

New bunny at Rocky Meadow Rabbits
She arrived Saturday at the CNY fibre fest -an A one world class event if ever there was one! Stella had graciously allowed me to use her buck Hershey for a litter and I really liked what he threw so I got one of his daughters from Stella's barn. She is a broken chocolate Satin angora and will be joining the lines as soon as she is old enough.
She didn't have a name so the kids decided on Twist of Fate's Destiny :) Love it!

Lindsays AMAZING project!!!
Lindsay had a project from school to make a mobile of her favorite animals. She blew it out of the park with this amazing creation of plastercine and coat hangers. Can you find all the critters? She used googly eyes on the peacock for its tail and spider has 8 eyes on her body -very creative! I give it an A+++++++++++++!

Baabaa white sheep have you any wool
Daryl my wonderful hubby mentioned that he saw free wool fleeces on Kiijii (our local classified site). whats this Free?? Wool?? I mean helloooooo fibre addict. So off we went to the local farm that offered it. The gentleman says oh yes we have registered border leicester sheep. Oh my lord somebody stop me. 3 HUGE garbage bags later dropped off to Cheryl -my sister in law and fledgling wool mill operator. She's got some of it done for me to drool over on the screen. Here's the sad thing he told me if somebody didn't take the fleece he would bury it with the rest out in the manure pile -he couldn't be bothered with the wool mill. He now has my card on file and will call me to let me know when he shears again!
YUMMY!!!! My fibre stash has increased multifold and the fleece was way too nice to be thrown away!

D-Day -thank you to all those whose sacrifice is not forgotten
Today, Canadians commemorate the 67th anniversary of D-Day—the first day of a major Allied invasion of occupied France that led to the end of the Second World War. It was a massive undertaking, involving the Allied fighting forces on land, sea and in the air.
On June 6, 1944, more than 450 Canadians parachuted inland before dawn on the beaches of Normandy and engaged the enemy. A few hours later, 15,000 Canadian troops began coming ashore at Juno Beach in the face of enemy fire. Their courage and skill helped lead the Allied advance and soon, the Canadians had captured three shoreline positions.
Through the summer of 1944 the soldiers of the First Canadian Army, the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Royal Canadian Navy continued fighting against a powerful enemy, suffering and inflicting heavy casualties. On August 25, 1944, Paris was liberated by the Allies, ending the Battle of Normandy. Nine months later, the Allies achieved final victory in Europe.
The triumph at D-Day and the Battle of Normandy was not without sacrifice. Of the 90,000 Canadians and Newfoundlanders who served in this military campaign, 5,000 would make the ultimate sacrifice.
Canada remembers its heroes—we pay tribute to their legacy and honour those who continue to serve. We enjoy our freedom today thanks to these brave Canadians. It is our duty to remember them. Lest we forget.

Commanding respect
Shenanigans our old 16 year old cat demands respect from all the underlings in the house. He will not be chased by any dog and all other critters must bow to his majesty. Dutch LOVES to chase our other cat and Java around the house but he will not chase Shenanigans after he was told by the orange lord and master that that was very unacceptable.
He lays where he wants and with whom he wants. He has his own basket by the front door which is covered with one of my old winter coats -very snuggly and warm. He has decided that Dutch is allowed to share it with him. They looks so cute together. However the love does not extend to the food dish -the canned cat food is ONLY for his royal highness and his staff must feed him twice a day or listen to the VERY LOUD litany of complaints!
But I adore my old boy and want him to stay with us as long as possible -I think he looks pretty darn good for his age and the vet still gets out the welding gloves to handle him!

A lesson in spinning
Came downstairs to find my "sidekick" teaching my other sidekick how to spin on the wheel. LOL What can I say Brianne knows the best things in life involve wool and a faithful dog. And a snack as well - we were eating carrots -hence the chipmunk cheeks!
